seeing the kiddos

The other highlight of our jaunt home was, of course, being with family. Somehow- only the kiddos ended up getting their photos taken!

A Day Trip to Tallahassee

We headed to Tallahassee, on Saturday- to drop off my sewing machine at a repair shop & see what there was to see. I, of course, insisted that we go to the beach- which ended up being a great decision. We went to St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. It is apparently a destination for- birding- or birdwatching. There were a lot of cool birds and tons of people there with high tech binoculars. Luke actually had his binoculars in the car- usually used at Illini games- so we fit in pretty well!






They have a beautiful lighthouse- but we couldn't go in.















We didn't see any alligators!










We took a walk down the beach and out onto a... sandbar.... but it wasn't sand- it was oyster shells- an oysterbar. The sand on the beach was soo white!

The Georgia National Fair

Last Saturday we ventured out of Tifton to Perry, Ga- home of the Georgia National Fair! We got there pretty late- so we weren't sure if we would get to see any good 'ole livestock showing (wranglers and the funny boots with fringes). Thankfully- we caught best of show! This 6 yr old seemed to win based on "her exceptional mammary system". (insert immature joke)
I have to say... it was exceptional.

Then we made our way to the food. Mmm. Fair food. Everything was pretty similar to home- except for the turkey legs! Corn dog, funnel cake, and turkey legs (like at Medieval Times).

As we digested the fair goodness, we had to check out the games and rides. We didn't partake- but we did enjoy! F.Y.I there is now not only the Starship 2000... there is also the Starship 3000. Luke was quite disappointed by the Georgia version of "Der Schpookin Barn" (enjoy my german spelling- my pronunciation is much better)

Heading Home

We are so excited to be heading home for 2 Chicago weddings! So- Eric & Naki - Griffin & Kathleen- Thanks for the excuse to come back right away!

Vacation 2008

We didn't think we would get a vacation this year- with moving and all! Thankfully mom & dad (maloney) planned their vacation so that we were in driving distance! YEA! We had a great time relaxing on the beach. Deiken was even there... even though he didn't make it into any pictures.
